In the year that marks the Centenary of the Birth of Amália Rodrigues (1920-1999), the Camões network multiplies itself in numerous initiatives that include concerts, exhibitions, film screenings and conferences, to take place during the years of 2020 and 2021.

The Centenary of the Birth of Amália Rodrigues occupies a central place in the program of External Cultural Action (ACE), for the year 2020, which aims at the internationalization of Portuguese culture and the projection of the image of Portugal in the world.

Camões IP, activities started, at the beginning of the year, with the exhibition “Amália no Cinema”, by the Cinemateca Portuguesa, which was shown at Camões - Centro Cultural Português in Berlin between February and April of this year; the exhibition “Echoes of Fado in Portuguese Art” in the Exhibition Room of the Former School of the Magisterium of Cáceres in January; the 8th edition of the Night of Fado in SaintÉtienne, in February, or the event “Centenary of the Birth of Amália Rodrigues - Fado at the United Nations”, an initiative of the Mission of Portugal at the UN, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Portugal in Newark in partnership with the Arte Institute.
